Time for Thanks and Giving

Each year, we do the same thing.  We gather as a family and give thanks for being together from across different cities or states.  We give thanks for the food that's on our table.  We give thanks for good health. 

We give thanks for happiness.  And there is no reason we shouldn't.  We are blessed to have these things, and it is great that we take the time, if not just once a year, to pause and remember that.  But do we sit down and give thanks for flushing toilets or the door on the front of our house?  Do we realize that so many people work day and night not only to provide food for their families, but also to provide such basic amenities as room to sleep in and a sanitary bathroom? 

Even more, do we realize how easy it is to help improve their conditions?  It doesn't require a plane ticket to Senegal or much time at all.
